The 20th Tower project is set to bring 80 affordable studio units to a 4,600-square-foot lot in Portland’s Slabtown district. This 12-story timber-framed building will feature studio units averaging 350 square feet, each with floor-to-ceiling windows, midcentury modern accents, and exposed plywood finishes.
Designed for efficiency and style, the building offers rooftop amenities such as a gym, BBQ area, and lounge with stunning views of the river, Mount Hood, and the West Hills. There are also ground-level communal spaces, including a patio with a fireplace and a midcentury-inspired lounge area.
Developed by Carbon Group and designed by Guna Collaborative, the project addresses Portland's growing need for affordable housing. The building will enhance the NW Portland neighborhood by providing affordable living in a high-demand area while maintaining a sleek, modern aesthetic. The development also includes amenities like bike parking in the basement, laundry facilities, and shared spaces that make the most of the small footprint, maximizing livability.
A unique aspect of the building is its heavy timber construction—a rarity for towers in the area—along with thoughtful, efficient design solutions for urban living. By bringing more affordable housing to a destination neighborhood, 20th Tower aims to build an inclusive and vibrant community.
